We know we want to change the world, but where do we begin? And when? How can we be a source of strength and healing in times of change and anxiety?
Mindfulness meditation is a practice for training our attention to connect more fully with the present moment.
The present moment, it turns out, is the only moment we have for effecting change, whether it’s in our own lives or the lives of those around us.
Incredibly, when we gather our attention more fully to the moment, we find that qualities we normally seek outside ourselves and think we need to aquire — like patience, compassion, kindness, joy, creativity and happiness — are actually foundational to who we already are!
You do not need to become a better person, you need the opportunity to be the wonderful person you already are.
Mindfulness meditation enables us to recognize these qualities within ourself. From this recognition we explore living, one moment at a time, from this place of presence, well-being, and openness.
In this way, we don’t find home, we become it. We become a person in whom others can find safety, support, shelter and clarity in the turbulence and uncertainty of life.
